Meet the Principal Investigator
Dr. Shilva Shrestha
Dr. Shilva Shrestha is an environmental engineer and microbiome scientist passionate about harnessing microbial systems for sustainable biomanufacturing. She joined the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University as an Assistant Professor in July 2023. Before that, she conducted postdoctoral research at the Joint BioEnergy Institute at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, where she focused on microbial community engineering for bioenergy applications.
Dr. Shrestha earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Michigan, her M.S. in Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering from the University of Hawaii, and her B.Tech in Biotechnology from Kathmandu University in Nepal.
When she’s not in the lab, she enjoys reading, drawing, and exploring the outdoors through hiking.
