Meet the Principal Investigator

Dr. Shilva Shrestha

Dr. Shilva Shrestha is an assistant professor in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering. She joined Johns Hopkins University in July 2023. Before that, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Joint BioEnergy Institute, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where she focused on studying environmental bacterial isolates through metabolic engineering and systems biology for bioenergy applications. Dr. Shrestha earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Michigan, her M.S. in Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering from the University of Hawaii, and her B.Tech in Biotechnology from Kathmandu University in Nepal.

Outside of work, she enjoys reading, drawing, photography, and hiking.
